BBerry Desktop Manager - no sync!

Hi Everyone,
I have been put in charge of upgrading a company’s Blackberry units to 8310’s and I have also had to upgrade the desktop manager software to version 4.2.2
This is proving to be very troublesome, as the company uses Lotus Notes as an email client, and some of the fiddly things I have had to do to make it all work has been quite frustrating. Editing registry entries, tweaking the notes.ini file, re-install after reinstall, just to have it work without an apparent change made… arrgh!
But now I have a problem any amount of tweaking is not rectifying, so I ask your collective knowledge base for some assistance.
Whenever I load the Manager software, there is no “SYNCHRONIZE” icon at all. Also an error message gets displayed: “YOUR DEVICE DOES NOT HAVE A NECESSARY APPLICATION INSTALLED PLEASE USE THE APPLICATION LOADER”
Ok so I load the “application loader” and get another message within the wizard stating “The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator.”
Called Optus (provider in Sydney) and they do not support the Desktop Manager Software.
Have reinstalled Manager and Lotus Notes a couple of times now, all permissions on folders are correct. And I have installed this same software on other PC’s in the office without incident.

I am starting to pull my hair out a bit, any advice would be appreciated!

Hunter

Hi Hunter,

To resolve the “The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software ..." issue all you need to do is download and install the Blackberry 8310 firmware to your computer using this LINK. Once you install this firmware open Desktop manager and it will check your device to see if it needs an update, if prompted just follow the update wizard.

It does appear that you may have a device issue and possible not Desktop manager issue, so please post back once you have loaded the firmware file.

Thanks,

Gary
