Environment

• BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 2.2 through software version 2.2 Service Pack 7

Problem

When you start BlackBerry Desktop Manager, you receive the following error while it is connecting to the mail system:

Visual C++ Runtime error, abnormal program termination

Note: Any activity in BlackBerry Desktop Software which requires a connection to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will cause this error to occur.


Cause

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server has been upgraded from an earlier version in which the public profile document in the BlackBerryProfiles.nsf database does not contain the ServerCapabilities information.


Resolution

Upgrade to BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.2 Service Pack 1.
