BlackBerry Desktop Manager cannot find DSTUpdateLoader MSI file

BlackBerry Desktop Manager cannot find DSTUpdateLoader MSI file

Doc ID : KB12834
Last Modified : 2007-07-10
Document Type : Support

Environment
  • BlackBerry® Desktop Manager
Problem

When starting BlackBerry Desktop Manager, the software looks for a DSTUpdateLoader MSI file and an error is returned stating that it could not be found.

Cause

The Daylight Savings Time universal serial bus (USB) driver has been loaded incorrectly.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the web-based Daylight Savings Time USB driver on the computer. To perform this, complete the following steps:
  1. Open the browser on the computer and navigate to www.blackberry.com/dst2007.
  2. On the menu on the left side of the page, click on Device Patch.
  3. Under the heading To Apply the Patch, click on the link DST Patch Loader. If prompted, install ActiveX control.
  4. When the driver is successfully installed, the web page will prompt to connect the BlackBerry device to the computer. This step is not required, so restart the computer at this point. The Daylight Savings Patch does not need to be reinstalled on the BlackBerry device.

I've tried to follow this step by step two times now.Once I click the patch, it automaticly goes to the Windows Installer screen and says it can't locate the DSTUpdateloader[1].msi, again. It's like i'm chasing my tail, please help me.

I've also deleted all the Desktop Manager Software and reloaded, restarted the blackberry (this is my Boss's 7520, so that's a painful experince itself).

Any assistance is appreciated.

Greg

1. Download the MSI file to the computer with the error.
2. When the error message appears, browse to the directory that the file is in. The issue should be resolved.

I'm with you, but I can't figure out how to download the file from the BlackBerry . (Feeling very dumb at the moment)

When I click the link to install the patch, I get the same windows installer asking for the DSTUpdateloader.msi screen. I never get to the screen where I am allowed to download the patch. Does that make sense???
