Hi Steffler,
The BlackBerry is a great platform for business with a fairly large array of software available for the stock and financial market. (Some free and some purchase-able - and the ones you buy usually have a free trial period so you should have a fairly good idea if the software fills all your expectations before you actually pay for it). You can check out the software at this link: Professional - Finance BlackBerry Software | BerryReview Software Store . If you are looking for a more specific finance application just drop a reply back here and I will post a link to some real specialist finance/stockbroking software that I reviewed a while back.
The BlackBerry 8310 Curve would be a good selection if you are going to use the web browser a bit as the screen is a bit bigger than the Pearl (81**). The Optus $79 cap (BIS) covers unlimited email and browsing so should suit you fine.
Hope this helps.
Kindest Regards,
Greg Myers.

Thanks Greg and Cybacowurboy for all your help, its been much appreciated.
Just a quick question to Greg, im interested in getting live up-to date stock quotes and maybe a trading platform/program? If you have any reviews etc to pass on, it wont go unappreciated!
I visisted my local optus store and found out from today it will cost 10 dollars per month for the 8310 alone Does anyone know when the 8320 come to australia as i would love the wi-fi. thanks guys for looking after me

The following link has quite a few, very professional, stock trading software applications. (BlackBerry Curve Software : BlackBerry Curve Games : Handango ) . Most of them have a trial version, so download what you think will suit you and give it a shot.
And, sorry no idea when the 8320 will be released "Officially" in Australia.

If you are a trader with IG Markets (CFD provider), they actually provide a live quote feed here...... Just point your BB provider to the link and you will be fine.... If you are an individual, the quotes are free, not just in Aus but also the US and other markets....

It will require you to fill out the TCP settings though, the APN for optus is "internet".

Cheers
