Hi,
You must use "Internet Browser" as the default as this uses the BlackBerry network.
Hmmm, abit weird. Some people that i asked told me to use the browser. So, which one is correct?
Thanks
The Browser and Internet Browser are basically the same but within "Options > Advanced Options > Browser" you must ensure "Internet Browser" is the default. You basically just need to staty away from the Optus Zoo browser and ensure that in Options > Advanced Options > TCP\IP is in NOT enabled and remove any APN if present.

Hi,
I've just ordered a new Bold 9000 from Vodafone today - my first blackberry.
I've signed up for the $79 cap with unlimited browsing and email in the blackberry browser. I have heard that some people weren't able to access the free internet because they didn't have the service books. I know I have to stay away from the Vodafone Live browser but when my phone arrives next week what should I be looking for in the settings to make sure I get the free internet?

Hi,
Congratulations on your new purchase. Once your device arrives and you insert your SIM it will automatically download all the required service books if the plan is configured correctly. The quickest way to check if they have applied the Internet Browsing Service (IBS) code is to go to Options > Advanced Options > Browser > Ensure the "Default" is set to "Internet Browser".

I rang Vodafone now that I have the phone. They've set up the BIS, and I switched it off and removed the battery and sim card, and left them out for 5 minutes.
This may seem like a silly question, but are the new service books now on it? And how do I check that they are?

Thanks for this.

On the home screen if you can see the BlackBerry logo (4 dots) in between 3G and the coverage indicator you are connected to the BlackBerry network. Once you are on the Blackberry network the service books will be automatically downloaded. You can view the service books from "Options > Advanced Options > Service Book".

I live outside a capital city, so I'm not on a 3G network at the moment. I have EDGE next to my coverage indicator.
Checking the service books, there's at least 3 times more options than there were when I first switched on the phone. Including one called Blackberry Internet Browsing Service which is active.

When you are in a 2G coverage area you need to see either EDGE or GPRS in capitals as this indicates a BlackBerry data connection (i.e. lowercase edge or gprs indicates no data connection). As you are seeing EDGE you are defiantly connected and the service books appear to be loaded correctly.
