Angry How do I stop the speakerphone coming on when answering calls on my Pearl 8120???

When I answer calls on my new 8120, the speakerphone comes on for about 5 seconds and then switches off back into normal mode. I have to hold the phone away from my ear and wait for the speaker to switch off before putting it to my ear. I have read the manual top to bottom and cant work out how this is switched off. Can anyone help me???? Please! Frustrated.

Hi,

Normally these issues are caused by the phone software module of the phone is corrupt. You can try and backup the device using Desktop Manager and then perform a wipe (Options > Security Options > General Settings > Press menu and select Wipe Handheld) and then restore the backup. The alternative would be to check if your carrier has released a firmware update, this would resolve the issue and get some new features. If you post back with your carrier details and the current firmware version (Options > About > Third Line) I can check if any updated firmware is available.

Thanks,

Gary

Dear Gary, thank you very very much for the reply. (If it is corrupt then perhaps i should return it to the dealer who supplied it. I connected with Vodafone.) The firmware version is v4.3.0.93 (Platform 2.6.0.53). Does this help? Peter

Sorry, the model is not 8120 but 8110

Previously advised that the phone was an 8120, but is in fact 8110.

All you need to do is download the firmware update using the link below and install it onto a PC which is running BlackBerry Desktop Manager. When you connect your device you will be prompted to upgrade so just follow the prompts and your device will be updated. If you if a BlackBerry Internet Service Plan (BIS) you will need to log onto https://bis.ap.blackberry.com/html?brand=vodaau and resend the service books after the upgrade.

Vodafone BlackBerry 8110 Handheld Software v4.5.0.108 (EastAsia)
