Hi,
As you have set up international roaming your Bold will connect to the local network when you arrive. Be aware of the high data costs and would advise if you are going to use email to disable images downloading automatically. Try; whilst in 'Messages' on you Bb press; 'Application' button (LHS of trackball)>scroll to 'Options'>select>scroll to 'Email settings'>select>scroll to 'Download images Automatically'>change option to 'No'. save changes and exit.
If you have any issues whilst over there... you have my number
Kindest Regards,
Greg Myers

In Japan the Bold will roam onto DoCoMo as they have a 3G network.

I'll be off to Japan next week and am also on Telstra.

I know I should call them [which I probably will] but if anyone can save me from the extremely long phone queues, would be great.

Would BB services in Japan fall under the BES bolt on plan? Or will it be additional costs and operate via NextG/3G data charges?

You will need to contact Telstra to get global roaming enabled. Easiest (and usually quickest) way is go down to your local Telstra shop. They can do it in a couple of minutes.

All data usage overseas will be charged at Global Roaming rates which is around 1.5 cents per KB. Please note only 3G devices will function in Japan so with regards to Blackberry the only compatible devices are the 8707 and BlackBerry Bold.
