edge -> EDGE : Telstra problem

I bought an unlocked bb8800 on telstra.

I went to a telstra dealer and got me on the $49 cap and the $39.95 unlimited internet option.
I have been told that they have activated the $39.95 plan, however, at the top right it still says "edge" in small. I can still access the internet from the Telstra BIZ option, however are there any setting I may need to change to turn it into "EDGE" in capitals

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Question, is the $39.95 plan an internet plan, or BlackBerry plan?\

Thanks,

Thomas

Hi,
If you have connected to a BIS plan, Telstra 'should' have sent you service books for your device (a series of wireless commands and permissions) as an email or sms.
Try a battery pull reset (remove the battery for about 30 sec then replace) as this is what the carriers recommend. If you still have issues after that either post back here or contact Telstra (Technical service).

The first thing I would do is call Telstra and have them confirm that you have a BlackBerry plan. If they say you have the correct plan explain that you have edge in lower case and there appears to be a problem with the plan. As all carriers do they will ask you to reset the device before taking 10 seconds to check that you have the correct service codes. If talking to Telstra sales doesn't help call 1800 010 253 and talk to the BlackBerry help desk and they should be able to correct the issue for you.
