Hi Marissa, I am assuming you are connecting your BlackBerry Bold to the desktop manager for the first time (congratulations on the purchase btw)?

If so, just connect, and ther desktop manager reads your BlackBerry first so that I guess, they get to know each other (yeah, okay, its Saturday). Above the "Reset configuration" there is another button "Synchronization".... by clicking on this one, you will be able to set up the synchronization rules for your outlook, your calendar, your tasks, and your memopad (notes), however you want to have them set up (ie. two way synchronization, one way from the devise, one way from the computer, etc).

Then once this is done, you can synchronize.

One important great thing about the desktop manager in its standard form, prior to deleting anything (referring back to your post), it will offer you a prompt, and options. So, it cannot just go and delete things, without you confirming the action first.

Hope this helps out.

Thanks Thomas - I actually figured it all out right after I posted (then had to run out for a while) - and surely enough, it was easy and quick synchronising, and certainly did ask my permission before synching certain things! (I am assuming I did the correct thing by choosing for a 2-way sync...? Does this mean it will take the latest changes from either device or outlook and update either one accordingly?

I'm just about to set up my email etc...
Thanks again for your help

ooh one more thing (sorry!)
What should I do regarding internet browsing settings to ensure I am only ever using BIS (or is it BES? - whatever!) and NOT optus WAP (so as not to incurr any data charges, as I am onthe 79 unlimited BB internet/email plan)?
Your assistance would once again be most appreciated

Hi Marissa,
Click on 'Options'>'Advanced Options'>'Browser'>set 'Default browser configuration' and 'Default MDS browser configuration' to 'Internet Browser' on both of these options. Save changes and exit.
This will ensure you don't use WAP unless you actually click on the WAP (Optus Zoo) icon.

Hiya Marissa,

Sorry.... its been a big day mucking around with micro sd cards, my music collection and twitter.

Go: Options > Advanced Options > Browser > change Default browser configuration to Internet Browser > Save

The other thing I did was to hide the carrier's browser (highlight Icon press BlackBerry key (left of trackball) and click on Hide.

If you don't have the Browser icon (BlackBerry Browser), contact your carrier and get them to send the service books to your handset.

Hope this helps out.
