Question Keep personlised settings after wipe

First of sorry if I have put this in the wrong forum.

We have an estate of about 50 blackberries, mostly Bolds but some curves, now the users have personlised the devices, eg new backgrounds fonts etc.

We are running on BES 4.0 and have a new server built running on 4.1, I am able to migrate the users over by backing up the device, wiping the device, and reactivated on the new system and then doing an advacned restore, restoring SMS, pictures etc.

However this does not restore the user customisation, is there anyway to restore these settings? If we cant then its not a problem, just be nice to give the user the BB back looking like it did when they gave it to me

Kimbie

Hi,

After you delete the user from the old BES and wipe the device you MUST restore any data prior to activating them on the new server. In order to restore a user’s personal settings (including photos) you need to select the following databases on the advanced screen.

1. Content Store
2. Profiles
3. Options

Thanks,

Gary

Good day,

I have a similar situation. Our manager requested to wipe all BB devices and reconnect to the BES server. Is the following method going to do the trick?:
1. backup BB
2. wipe BB
3. recover from the backup in #1
4. Activate with BES

It is imperative for us to maintain ALL settings (icon positions(hidden or not), backgrounds, sounds, alarm settings, etc. I found that the "Content store, Profiles, Options" method mentioned above recovered only some basic settings but not all.

Or doing a full recover brings some settings from the old BES activation? which my manager tried to rid of.

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend the following steps:

1. Backup BB
2. Wipe BB
3. Perform a selective recovery via Backup & Restore > Advanced and only restore the require data. Please keep in mind that calendar, contacts, tasks etc will be restored to the device during the activation.
4. Activate with BES
