Newbie with some questions

Hi all,
I am the new owner of BlackBerry Bold and have lots of silly questions.
Here are some of them. Would someone kindly answer and explain to me please.

1. Is it possible to change the phone carrier default signature "Sent via BlackBerry from vodafone" and how?
2. How to turn off tone when dialing a phone number?
3. What are the important things to know when swapping Micro SD. What files are saved in Micro SD? Where are the Applications stored?
4. What is the size of the Device Memory?
5. What is the maxium size of Micro SD allowed?
6. Is it possible to change LED indicator color via config/menu setting? What are the available colors?
7. How to activate/turn on num lock while typing in text mode?

Many thanks.

Hi voBery,

I am still a newbie myself and will try to answer questions that
I can answer.

Answers:

1. Log in into your BIS with Vodafone, click the edit button on your email
(the button is next to filter & delete) and it will show you sent via
with Vodafone. Click the cursor next to Vodafone and delete it.
I assume Vodafone BIS Login Page is the same as Telstra BIS.

2. Go to Menu - Options - Screen/Keyboard - Highlight Key Tone & choose
off.

3. Not sure.

4. Not sure.

5. I think since the Micro SD is a storage, you can put the maximum
available on the market.

6. Not sure.

7. Press the alt key and the left caps lock key.

Hope this help as a start.

There is a bold short cut guide at the forum that you can find and print.

KR,

Gus

0.5 point for this answer.
I think I got the idea. Correct me if I am wrong, I need to logon to BlackBerry Internet Service (Vodafone's BlackBerry settings site) to change the signature setting.

Hiya voBerry, play nice, Garfield was trying to help.
(a few minutes on google would have answered most of your questions)

1) Garfield was spot on for & so are you, log into the Vodafone BIS portal & change it in there.
2) The only way without a 3rd party app is to put the phone into silent mode.
3) Before swapping out make sure you power it off, not only to stop damage, but to flush the write cache. usually media files (video, music, pictures, etc) are stored there (but this is changable), but mostly it depends on what you copy on there when you conenct it to your PC. Apps generally aren't stored there unless you are given the option to chose this during an install.
4) ~860Mb (goto Options->Memory
5) View Document
6) I believe there's Third party apps that can do it
7) Garfield kindly answered this one.

I did say thanks to Garfield.
And thanks supabrudda for answering all the above questions.

I tried to Create New Account in Vodafone BIS portal and it failed. Perhaps they are experiencing an outage. Will try again tomorrow.

Hi,

If you setup your email accounts on the device (E-Mail Settings icon) call Vodafone and ask them to create a web logon for your account. Technically it can be done via the email settings icon but it is much easier via the web client.

Thanks,

Gary

I would thought it was a self service new account creation when I saw the Vodafone BIS portal site.
Thanks for the info, Gary. I will call Vodafone tomorrow and ask to create a new account for me.

Just a quick update.
I called Vodafone this morning and they created a new account for me successfully.
The reason it failed was I have accessed the Vodafone BIS directly via my device. This was happened automatically when I added 2 emails, Yahoo and Gmail the first day I received the Bold. That is why the Create New Account did not work in Vodafone BIS portal for me yesterday.
I found that having this Vodafone BIS portal account is very useful for whoever want to leverage the full potential of the email setting features that are available only in the BIS web portal.
Again, thanks so much for all the above people who have answered my questions.
Talk to you soon. Cheers.
