I've been trying for days to add my work email to my Bold, without any success.

Work uses MS Exchange Server with ActiveSync, and allows remote access via OWA.

All server details/username and password are entered correctly into the Vodafone BIS site, but I keep getting an error to the effect that it cannot connect to the server.

IT support insists that BES is required, which I don't think is correct.

Can someone pls confirm?

Many thanks,
Gary

I should also add that ActiveSync is enabled on my account.

For the server settings, I've tried the following:
https://remote.domain.com.au/owa (this is the usual address to access email via OWA)
http://remote.domain.com.au/owa
https://remote.domain.com.au
http://remote.domain.com.au/owa

For the username, I've tried:
domain/FirstName.LastName

I've tried all possible permutations and combinations, but it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks arjey. But can I ask if there is any harm in revealing my PIN? (Sorry, hope I didn't offend, but I'm new to Blackberry!)

Cheers,
Gary

For anyone who's interested, I think I got to the bottom of this.

The reason why the email server is not validating is because we're using an ISA Server. See this link for more details:

KB04804 - Error message received when integrating a Microsoft OWA 5.5 or 2007 account - Port3101.org : Your BES Connection

Apparently the only workaround for this is to set up forwarding rules, but I don't like the idea since any email that gets pushed to my Blackberry will be from me!

Does anyone know a workaround?

Many thanks,
Gary

Hi,

When you configure a device for OWA you first need to ensure the users account in AD has an internal email address listed on the email tab (e.g. user@domain.local must be present). Then when configuring the OWA integration you must ensure the following:

1. The OWA URL specified must be exactly the same as users enter on the web
2. The username and password needs to entered exactly as you would on the web
3. Ensure the Mailbox name is entered correctly; this could be for example gcutri or Gary Cutri.

Thanks,

Gary

Gary, Thanks.

What do you mean by "users account in AD"?

I've done exactly what was suggested, but it won't integrate due to ISA (as I posted above).

Do you know of a workaround?

Many thanks, G

Sorry, I only read your first two posts. If you log onto your BlackBerry web client create a blackberry email address (e.g. username@mobileemail.vodafone.com.au) and the edit the account and change your "Reply to" address as your work email account. Then within Active Directory create a new contact and give them the new blackberry email address. Then open the BlackBerry user's properties in Active Directory and from the "Exchange General" tab Select "Delivery Options". Now you just need to select "Forward to" > Add the new contact > Select "Deliver message to both ...".

Thanks again, Gary. Much appreciated.

I'm assuming all your instructions are for Outlook? Or are they to be implemented on the exchange server?

Thanks, G
