As of yet, Optus are not listing the 9700 in any of their outlets or on-line. Where did you see it ?

Not sure what the big deal is about AppWorld anyway. It's no where close to iPhone's app store and I find that I end up deleting most of the apps I download anyway. The Blackberry works great just as it is. Bloomberg, Viigo, Facebook, Bolt Browser, Urbanspoon and a game or two is all I need really.

I was told by a RIM exec that it was meant to be the 17th of Nov...there have either been delays or his information was bad...he is usually pretty good with his info though

I saw the comment about the BlackBerry Bold 9700 apparently being available from Optus in one of the newsfeeds I'm subscribed to, but Viigo doesn't seem to have a "search" function and I have WWAAYY, WWAAYY too many subscribed newsfeeds to go manually searching for it...

I realize it's of little help, but I believe it was one of the countless BlackBerry-news sites.

Well, South Africa now have BlackBerry App World officially available, 'cause you know, there are so many more BlackBerry users there than Australia...

Appworld is not pre-installed on the 9700 - I've been trying to add it to my 9700 for a few days now. Loveless thus far.

I stumbled across an odd internet forum post where a user attempted to download a program from app world in Australia. The user received an error, something to do with gaming classification, even though it wasn't a game.

Could this be part of the reason for the delay of app world? Possibly something to do with the fact that Australian sold games need to be classified like TV shows and movies before they can be sold.

It's highly unlikely that the reason is to do with our ratings system - "mobile" content is almost never rated according to the Australian classifications system and there are plenty of Australian-based or Australian-available software stores which are perfect examples of this...

The Apple iTunes Store and BigPond's various online stores are two such examples, as they only partially follows the Australian classifications system - music and video content is classified according to the Australian classifications system, but games and applications come under Apple's/BigPond's own classifications system.
