It appears they are trying to obtain more local content before they launch the App world in Australia.

Go to this Link and Download the BB Appworld .ZIP file:

Download free apps from BlackBerry App World from any country | BlackBerry Cool

There is also detailed instructions to install the app on your BlackBerry device (I know it still won't work with OS 5+ yet though).

I'd say the usual disclaimers of try this at your own risk apply, but the instructions are pretty foolproof and you're not actually wiping any data from the device.
