Procedure
To encrypt files on a media card inserted in your BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
Note: In order to encrypt the files using your BlackBerry device password, verify that your password is set before you begin the steps below.
- On the Home screen, click Options.
- Click Media Card or click Advanced Options > Media Card (depending on the BlackBerry Device Software version you are running).
- Perform one of the following actions:
- To encrypt files using an encryption key that your BlackBerry smartphone generates for your media card, set the Encryption Mode field to Device.
- To encrypt files using your BlackBerry device password, set the Encryption Mode field to Security Password.
- To encrypt files using a media card encryption key and your BlackBerry device password, set the Encryption Mode field to Security Password & Device. Note: To turn off media card encryption, set the Encryption Mode field to None.
- To encrypt media files (e.g., videos, ring tones, pictures, songs) on your media card, set the Encrypt Media Files field to Yes.
- Press the Menu key.
- Click Save.
