8320 BB - Device Memory/File Size

All,

Under Options>Status> there is info on "File Free" and carries some 'x' MB number. The problem is over the course of normal usage of my BB, sometimes this number (showing the amount of kb/mb) reduces. As the file free reduces, the BB slows down (hour glass) shows as the BB move from function to function.

At that stage, I take out the battery and completely reboot the system and suddenly large tracts of memory become free and the BB works fine.

Any way to mitigate this..., have discussed with other users and they do not have such an issue. The difference in the quantum of 'file free' can vary for 0kb to more than 7 MB free?

Appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

You can enable Memory Cleaning on your curve.
To access it go to Options -> Security Options -> Memory Cleaning.

Hi,

This issue can be caused by the firmware build you are running or certain third party applications (e.g. Viigo). As you are running a very outdated version of firmware I recommend that you update to the latest version (download link below) and then see if the issue is corrected.

Mobilink BlackBerry 8320 Handheld Software v4.5.0.294 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.294
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.174
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
  • File name: 8320M_PBr4.5.0_rel294_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.174_Mobil ink.exe
  • File size: 92.43MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Thanks,

Gary
