Update BlackBerry device drivers manually on a Microsoft Windows-based PC

Procedure
Note: If a previous version of the BlackBerry Desktop Software has been installed, please ensure that you perform a clean uninstall prior to installing the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Software.

For Microsoft Windows 2000/XP
- On the Desktop, right-click My Computer and select Properties.
- Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click BlackBerry Device. Select Properties.
- Click on the Drivers tab. Click on Update Driver.
- In the Hardware Update Wizard, select No, not at this time and click Next.
- Select Install from a list or a specific location and click Next.
- Remove the checkmark from the Search removable media checkbox.
- Click on the Include this location in the search.
- Click on Browse.
- Browse to the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers and click Ok.
- Click on Finish.
For Microsoft Windows Vista
Note: You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
- Click on Start and click on Control Panel.
- Click on System and Maintenance. Click on Device Manager.
- If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Double-click on BlackBerry Device.
- Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.
- Browse to the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers and click Ok.
- Click on Finish.
