"Communication Link Refused" Error message

Could you please assist, I have just loaded the Desktop manager software and attempted to connect my BB 8800 to my laptop and receive the above error mesage. The mesage goes on to say;

"Could not establish communciations with the device. A required application is missing from the device".

Could you please advise 'which application' could be missing and how do I load it ?

The odd part is, I managed to download a picture to the BB so it is communication to some degree. I just want to sync my address book and calendar and i'll be happy.

Could you please do the following and then post back with your progress?

1. Remove the battery from the device then place it back in and allow the device to restart.

2. Ensure your computer has been restarted since Desktop Manager was installed. Also confirm that during the installation you selected "BlackBerry Internet Service".

3. Open BlackBerry Manager and connect your device. Then in Desktop Manager select "Options" and "Connection Settings" and set the connection to USB.

If you still continue to have issues you will have to perform a clean uninstall and then reinstall using the following steps:

Also if you have any firewall applications ensure that you set an exclusion for BlackBerry Manager. It does sound like the drivers didn't load correctly onto your laptop.

Hi - BESAdmin,

Removing the battery from the device and restarting it made the immediate difference. I have just backed-up and Synched.

Thank you.
