Blackberry 8110 (with GPS)

I purchased in June an 8110 in Canada (Rogers) as my Telstra handset broke at the start of a 2 month trip. After unlocking it and registering it with Telstra it works fine with the exception that I would like to change the firmware from Rogers to Telstra and that the maps / GPS features are not working. I am reasonably untechnical about these things but can work it out if pointed in the right direction... any help would be appreciated!

Thanks muchly.

I recently purchased an AT&T branded 8110 (GPS) via eBay from the US and it works perfectly with Telstra. The navigation applicantion automatically became the Telstra/Sensis Whereis program and it works fine except for the cost. I can't comment on the Rogers version unfortunatly. I prefer using Google Maps and whilst you don't get turn by turn navigation, the GPS function works perfectly.

Are you saying the GPS is not working at all? Instruction I was previoulsy given was to go to Options>Advance Options > GPS, make sure GPS Services has Location On, then select Refresh GPS. Once this is done you then open up Google Maps and it should plot exactly where you are within 3-5 metres.

here's where you download Telstra software
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...149E92A551338E

This is the OS, not the firmware, (so you'll still get the rogers startup screen etc).
You'll need the Blackberry desktop software

I believe you will need to delete or rename the VENDOR.XML file located at:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\VENDOR.XML
First, install BlackBerry OS 4.x but do not run BlackBerry Desktop. Next, delete or rename the VENDOR.XML. Finally, run desktop manager to install.
(I haven't tried this, I flashed my Telstra 8100 with vodafone netherlands OS4.5 a while ago & this step wasn't needed).

I hope that helps.
