Hi sleepy,

Are you referring to updating your OS on your Pearl, or updating the Pearl to a newer model?

If updating your OS (operating system, or firmware), please advise whether you are on BIS or BES, what current OS you are currently running, and who is your carrier?

Hi,

As a short overview you need to do the following:

1. Ensure BlackBerry Desktop manager is installed on your PC
2. Download the latest firmware for your carriers Blackberry download page
3. Install the firmware to the same machine that has Desktop Manager installed
4. Connect your device and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager
5. After your device is detected you will be prompted to upgrade.
6. Follow the Wizard (or select Advanced to Add/Remove items) and you device will be upgraded. This upgrade can take from 45 minutes to 1 hour.
7. If your device in on BIS resend the service books from your web client. If you are on BES you are required to reactivate the device.
