Update to 4.5

Hello,

I am currently using a BlackBerry 8100 on the Rogers Wireless network in Canada.

My current software code is: v4.2.1.109 (Platform 2.3.0.85)

I would like to upgrade to 4.5, so that I can take advantage of some of the new features introduced by the latest Bold series.

Hi,
You will find the step up from v4.2 to v4.5 a world of difference. Try your vendors website for the latest release firmware or can found online from different vendors.
Just drop back here if you have any questions or issues.
Kindest Regards,
Greg Myers

Hi,

Rogers Wireless currently doesn't offer the 4.5 firmware upgrades on their download page. You could consider using another carrier’s firmware but this may cause issues with your current provider. If you do choose to install another carrier’s firmware you will have to go to "\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader" and delete vendor.xml after you have installed the firmware update. As a basic overview of the upgrade process please refer to the steps below:

1. Ensure BlackBerry Desktop manager is installed on your PC
2. Download the latest firmware for your carriers Blackberry download page
3. Install the firmware to the same machine that has Desktop Manager installed
4. Connect your device and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager
5. After your device is detected you will be prompted to upgrade.
6. Follow the Wizard (or select Advanced to Add/Remove items) and you device will be upgraded. This upgrade can take from 45 minutes to 1 hour.
7. If your device in on BIS resend the service books from your web client. If you are on BES you are required to reactivate the device.

Thanks,

Gary
