Hi, I hope someone can help me solve these frustrating problems, which appeared when we went on to daylight saving time.
When I sync my BB Pearl 8100 with outlook on my laptop, all the calendar entries are moved one hour back; calendar entries from BB to Outlook are moved ahead 1 hour.
eg enter an appointment for 2pm today in BB; sync and it shows in outlook as 3pm. vice verca from outlook to BB.
Strangely although time on PC is correct daylight saving time it was changing BB time back 1 hr on sync. so I turned off the "update time/date" switch. So time does not change but the calendar entries do???
when I change the time the time in "options" date/time it shows the network time as correct (to daylight savings)
Another recent "funny" is that at completion of every sync I get an error msg.
*There was a total of 1 record(s) skipped during the synchronisation as summarised below: Address Book: Device -1, Microsoft Outlook -0
Please check sync log for more details*
Unfortunately the log details don't give me any hint as how to rectify the problem. Can anyone help?

Hi palerider,
Welcome to the Forum.
The search function on the forum is very handy, and the first thread I recommend you check out is this one...
For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0 ("Options > About" to confirm), download the 4.1MR4+_Patch.zip. There are two ways to download the patch:
For administrators, or for installing the patch using the Application Loader in BlackBerry® Desktop Manager, to download the 4.1MR4+_Patch.zip, click here. For instructions on installing the patch using the Application Loader, see KB15172.
To download the patch wirelessly from a BlackBerry smartphone, click here.
For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.2 or later("Options > About" to confirm), download the 4.2+_Patch.zip. There are two ways to download the patch:
For administrators or for installing the patch using the Application Loader in BlackBerry Desktop Manager, to download the 4.2+_Patch.zip, click here. For instructions on installing the patch using the Application Loader, see KB15172.

Hi thanks the 4.2+ patch has solved the problem. Although the first sync caused time to be shifted forward an hour and appointments to be changed from am to pm. I corrected them on pc, re-activated time update (which I'd turned off when issue started) sync'd again and all good.
I am still getting the address book error msg at completion of sync. any ideas?

Normally this issue is caused when a user has a Contact Group configured in their contacts list. In short BlackBerry Groups aren't supported by Outlook and they are skipped during the sync process. Also check your contacts on the device to ensure you have no blank contacts (No first, last or company name), contacts with special characters (e.g. !#$%^&*). Let us know how you go as there is one last option we can try which involves doing a backup and then restoring the data back onto the device.
Hi, finally found time to check through all contacts. If there's a new group it occurred by accident as I don't know how to set it up. Found a contact entry with some strange characters in amongst the address, and thought ah! there's the problem. Deleted the characters, alas still have the error msg.
Quite a few of my contacts have always been missing company name, and there was no problem until recently. I had another look at the log and being a technophobe it was again of no help. Is there something I should specifically look for in the log?
When I get more time will search contacts again and delete the entire entry for anything suspicious. Please keep the tips coming and thanks

The next thing we can try to resolve your contact sync issue is to Open Desktop manager and select Backup\Restore and backup the device. Once the backup is completed select Advanced from within the Backup\Restore menu. Once you open the advanced menu highlight Address Book in the right window and press the "Clear" button at the bottom on the window. Now select Address Book in the left window and then press the right arrow in the centre to restore your contacts list. Once this process is completed please try and sync and post back with your results.
Hi, tried the "address book clear" procedure twice and unfortunately still get the error message. Guess I'm good at finding weird problems.
In earlier post you mentioned categories, so I "cleared & restored" categories. Still the problem persists. ????
thanks for your help, we'll eventually solve the problem.
cheers

What you will need to try now is to clear the device address book and not restore that data back. Once cleared resync your device to the PC but ensure you double check the confirmation screen to ensure items are being added to the device and not removed from Outlook. If the confirmation screen shows Outlook data will be removed cancel the sync process and we will have to reset the sync state. If the confirmation screen show items will be added to the device you issue should be resolved.

Hi, success!!
In the advanced backup/restore I cleared the address book, and instead of using the arrow to move the data back from the PC. I did a sync, which came up a note 325 entries to be added (or similar) which I accepted and wahoo all fixed.
No more errors on synchronising.
thanks again for your help.
