Message delay - concurrent connections not enabled

Message delay - concurrent connections not enabled

Doc ID : KB13846
Last Modified : 2007-07-25
Document Type : Support

Environment
  • BlackBerry® Internet Service 2.x
  • IMAP IDLE enabled email accounts
  • Google® Gmail®
  • Yahoo!® Mail
Note: To determine which version of the BlackBerry Internet Service you are using, see KB04989.

Problem

Email messages are delayed up to 6 hours, when received from an email account set up with the BlackBerry Internet Service.

Cause

Concurrent connections have not been enabled on the IMAP IDLE account.

Resolution

The system administrator of the messaging server is required to implement either of the following options. After completing either of these steps it will be necessary to remove and re-integrate the email account.

Contact your system administrator to complete one of the following tasks:
  1. Configure the messaging server to permit concurrent connections. OR
Disable the IMAP IDLE feature on the messaging server.
  2. Remove and re-integrate the email account. For instructions on removing an integrated email account, see KB04258. For instructions on integrating an email account, see KB02189.
Additional Information

For more information regarding the IMAP IDLE feature, see KB13816.
