Integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access email account with a BIS account

Integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access email account with a BlackBerry Internet Service account

Doc ID : KB03133
Last Modified : 2007-04-11
Document Type : How To

Environment
  • BlackBerry® Internet Service
  • Microsoft® Exchange
  • Microsoft Outlook® Web Access 2003 and earlier
Important: Some service providers do not support integration with all email account types. Contact your service provider to verify that Microsoft Outlook Web Access is supported.

BlackBerry Internet Service does not currently support integration with Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2007 accounts.

Note: To determine which version of the BlackBerry Internet Service you are using, see KB04989.

Procedure

For BlackBerry Internet Service 2.x accounts, complete the following steps:
  1. Navigate to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site and log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account.
  2. Click Setup Account.
  3. Complete the Email address, Password, and Confirm password fields, and click Next.
  4. The following message is displayed: We were unable to configure <email address>. Choose one of the following options and select Next.
  5. Select I will provide the settings to add this email account and click Next.
  6. In the Outlook® / Exchange® section, select I can access my email account using a Web Browser (Outlook® Web Access), and click Next.
  7. Type the Microsoft Outlook Web Access URL and fill out the required fields.

Note: The Email account field refers to your mailbox name. To determine your mailbox name, log into the Microsoft Outlook Web Access account and hover over the Inbox folder on the left top corner. On the task pane, you should see the mailbox name. For example,

    https://<domain.name.com>/exchange/< mailboxname>/Inbox.....
  8. Click Next. The OWA account should appear in your list of integrated email accounts.
For BlackBerry Internet Service 1.8 accounts, complete the following steps:
  1. Navigate to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site and log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account.
  2. On the navigation bar, click Profile.
  3. On the Email Accounts page, click the other email accounts hyperlink.
  4. Click Add Account.
  5. Specify the email address, user name, and password in the appropriate fields, and click Submit.
  6. In the Microsoft Outlook/Exchange section, select I can access my mailbox using a Web browser (Outlook Web Access).
  7. Click Submit.
  8. In the Outlook Web Access URL field, type the Microsoft Outlook Web Access account URL.
  9. In the Mailbox Name field, type the mailbox name for your Microsoft Outlook Web Access account.
  10. Verify that your email address, user name, and password are correct.
  11. Click the Leave messages on mail server check box.
  12. Click Submit. If you see the Your email account has been successfully set up message, the integration is complete. If you see the We were unable to configure this mailbox message, the integration failed for one of the following reasons:
    • The email account information was entered incorrectly. Repeat the process.
    • There is a temporary connection problem between the BlackBerry Internet Service web site and the Microsoft Exchange Server on which your mailbox resides. Try integrating your account later.

Unable to integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2007 email account

Doc ID : KB12667
Last Modified : 2007-06-06
Document Type : Support

Environment
  • BlackBerry® Internet Service 2.3
  • Microsoft® Outlook® Web Access 2007
Note: To determine which version of the BlackBerry Internet Service you are using, see KB04989.

Problem

The BlackBerry device user is unable to integrate a Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) 2007 email account into their BlackBerry Internet Service account.

Cause

Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2007 email accounts are not supported for integration with the BlackBerry Internet Service. Outlook Web Access 2003 is currently the highest supported version.

Resolution

Set up a forwarding rule from the Microsoft Exchange 2007 messaging and collaboration server to the hosted Blackberry email address or another integrated email account. For instructions, consult the Microsoft Support Knowledge Base article 927459.

Additional Information

For more information about forwarding rules and the BlackBerry Internet Service, see KB10979.
