Problem

BlackBerry Internet Service 2.0 requires a minimum of four characters when creating a hosted account. If you attempt to enter less than four characters, you will receive the following message:
The username entered is invalid. Usernames must be at least 4 characters long.

Resolution

Upgrade to BlackBerry Internet Service 2.1.

Note: To upgrade to BlackBerry Internet Service 2.1, go to your service provider’s BlackBerry Internet Service web site and log in to your account. If your service provider supports BlackBerry Internet Service 2.1, the web site will ask you if you want to upgrade.

Workaround

If you cannot upgrade to BlackBerry Internet Service 2.1, create a hosted account with a minimum of four characters. If you require a hosted account with less than four characters, contact your service provider.
