Two-way email reconciliation is not working for an integrated Yahoo! Mail account

Doc ID : KB12838
Last Modified : 2007-04-30
Document Type : Support

Environment
  • BlackBerry® Internet Service 2.3
  • BlackBerry device
  • BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 and later
Note: To determine which version of the BlackBerry Internet Service you are using, see KB04989 .

Problem

Two-way email reconciliation is not working for an integrated Yahoo!® Mail account.

Cause

This problem may be caused by one of the following:
  1. The check box for Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device is not checked.
  2. The Email Reconciliation settings may not be set correctly on the BlackBerry device.
  3. Email reconciliation is not working properly.
Resolution

Cause 1

The check box for Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device is not checked.

Resolution
  1. Log in to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site.
  2. Click the Edit icon beside the integrated Yahoo! Mail account.
  3. Click the Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device checkbox.
  4. Click Save.
Cause 2

The Email Reconciliation settings may not be set correctly on the BlackBerry device.

Resolution
  1. On the BlackBerry device, select Messages.
  2. Display the menu and select Options.
  3. Select Email Reconciliation.
  4. Change the Message Services to specify the integrated Yahoo! Mail account by displaying the menu and selecting Change Option.
  5. Change the Delete On option to Mailbox & Handheld.
  6. Change the Wireless Reconcile option to On.
  7. Change the On Conflicts option to Mailbox Wins.
  8. Display the menu and select Save.
Cause 3

Email reconciliation is not working properly.

Resolution
  1. Send four test email messages to the integrated Yahoo! Mail account, titled Test A, Test B, Test C, and Test D.
  2. Verify that the four email messages arrived on both the BlackBerry device and in the Yahoo! Mail inbox.
  3. Delete Test A and Test B on the BlackBerry device.
  4. Delete Test C and Test D from the Yahoo! Mail inbox.
  5. On the BlackBerry device, open the Messages folder.
  6. Display the menu and select Reconcile Now.
  7. Verify that the email messages have been deleted from both the BlackBerry device and the Yahoo! Mail inbox. If the email messages are not deleted, manually delete all test email messages from both the BlackBerry device and the Yahoo! Mail inbox, and proceed to step 8.
  8. Remove the integrated Yahoo! Mail account service book and resend service books to the BlackBerry device. For instructions, see KB05000.
  9. Repeat steps 1 through 7.
  10. Clear the service book database from the BlackBerry device. For instructions, see KB05010.
  11. Repeat steps 1 through 7.
  12. Remove the Yahoo! Mail account integration. For instructions, see KB04258.
  13. Verify that the Yahoo! Mail account service book has been removed from the BlackBerry device.
  14. Integrate the Yahoo! Mail account again. For instructions, see KB02189.
  15. Repeat steps 1 through 7.
