Configure an IT policy for encrypting files on a media card

• BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 2 (4.1.2)

Procedure

Complete the following steps:

1. On the Global tab in BlackBerry Manager, click the Edit Properties task. The Global Properties screen opens.
2. Click IT Policy, and then double-click IT Policies. The IT Policy Administration screen opens.
3. Select the IT policy and click Properties.
4. Click Security Policy Group.
5. Select External File System Encryption Level and open the drop-down menu beside it.
6. On the menu, selct Encrypt to User Password (including multimedia).
7. Save the changes. After configuring the IT policy, files transferred from the media card using Roxio® Media Manager for BlackBerry smartphones should be encrypted.

Note: This procedure does not encrypt files that are copied to the media card using Microsoft® Windows® Explorer. When viewing media card contents in Windows Explorer, encrypted files appear with a .rem extension and are unreadable.
