Hi,
The server name needs to include the instance e.g. SERVER1\BLACKBERRY so let us know if this resolves the issue.
Thanks,
Gary

hi guys i'm installing the blackberry remote administration tools on my vmware 2008 server computer to remotely connect to my BES. i'm on the stage where it asks for SQL server name and blackberry configuaration database name. i typed in the name of the computer that hosts the BES Express 5.0.3 software and BESMgmt for the database name but it cant connect... am i doing something wrong? my BES server is running Bes Express 5.0.3 in a 2010 Exchange environment... thanks

hi Gary i tried NTSERVER7\BLACKBERRY as NTSERVER7 is the netbios name for my server hosting the BES express and BESMgmt as the default database (i think but thats what it defaulted too) and the port is set to dynamic and the database location is set to Remote... but the error is "an attempt to connect to the database was unsuccessful. Refer to the installation log for more infomation"...... another thing too is that i had to add the BESAdmin user to the domain admins group to start the installation of the remote tools which i didnt want to do. i was going to install the remote admin tools under my administrator account then change the log in as a service services for the BES to the BESAdmin account.....

Well not for everybody. I followed this tutorial because the BES installation was a nightmare.
