Google Maps On BES 4.1.5

I am getting the following error:
"Network Error: Your enterprise blackberry server does not allow connections to google maps service"

the IT policy has basically all defaults set. The MDS has been setup correctly as it lets you view our internal and external websites, but cannot open google maps.

Google maps gets to 10% and then stops.

Have downloaded GM 2.2 and used on different handset and OS's

The company the recently did the BES upgrade are hopeless and have no idea whats wrong.

Hope someone can help

Thanks

Umm I assume you can browser via Blackberry Browser? (not internet browser)
If so, do you need to log into a proxy to get out?
(if you do you might have problems as i don't think it prompts for the proxy PW)

Does the proxy used by the BES block google maps?

I also believe in the IT policy -> Security Group Policy
Allow Internal Connections = true

Yes i can browse via Blacberry browser and it can connect to our intranet and also go to internet through proxy.
The BES server does the proxy authentication on its end automatically

The proxy is not blocking google maps but have noticed that maps.google.com.au does not load on our pcs but maps.google.com does. (will let you know what happens here)

Yes we have also allowed internal connections in the IT policy

In the BB if you goto Options->Advanced->Applications
select Google maps,
press Menu & select Edit Permissions
select Connections
press Menu & select Expand
is Company Network set to Allow or Prompt?

Also did you download this OTA/desktop or was it pushed out via the BES?
(as there maybe something in the software config if pushed)

Company network is set to allow

It was installed through the USB cable via the BES server.

Have tried with no software configuration and also with a software configuration that allows internal/external access but still no luck

Hi,

As a test can you please create a blank I.T policy and assign it to this device you are testing with. Once all the policies are removed I need you to retest the application to determine if it is a policy based issue or a device\network issue. Also you should really look at updating your BES to SP6 as there is a know vulnerability in your current version.

Thanks,

Gary

If your 7130 is able to run Google Maps and your 8300 isn't I would put it down to your 4.5 firmware. Currently most applications aren't 4.5 compatible and due to the new security settings the connection will be blocked.
