"Best" way to move users to new system

Hello,

We have aquired another company, there are 280 BB users and they have a MS Exchange back-end. We have no control of the Exchange system (still owned by their old parent company) and we have to take all the users and move them over to our GroupWise mail system on date x/x/08.

When we cut them over on that day and they are now GroupWsie users, all their BB's will need to be re-activate on our GroupWise BES servers and my question is, whats the best way to do this?
Can we just run Enterprise Activation over their existing data and activate it on our BES server and it will keep all their old data? Is the fact that they were on Exchange and now going to our GroupWise BES server, do the devices have to be wiped before we re-active?

I guess what I am getting at is we want to get them all activated at once and with the minimal amout of intervention without them loosing any existing data on the BB.

ANY input would be greatly appreciated. We have Tier 4 support with RIM's and I am wiating on their e-mail with what they reccomend but it doesnt hurt to get information from others!
Thanks!!

Hi,

As you are moving to a different platform version of BES you "MUST" ensure all the handhelds are wiped. If you don't perform a handheld wipe your I.T Policies on the new BES won't work and you risk corrupting your GroupWise data (e.g. Contacts will have different field mappings). Once the handheld is wiped you need to perform an Enterprise Activation (wireless or cabled) onto your new BES.

Thanks,

Gary
