Bold gets meeting request 50% of time.. weird

I have a BES with about 10 people on it. Most are 8830s on Verizon but I have one user on a Bold on AT&T. I hooked him into the BES. We upgraded our BES to support this feature and are running BES 4.1 Professional Software. Some guys on our Exchange server send this Bold user a meeting request and it comes through fine as a meeting request - it shows two people icon and can be accepted or rejected. If I send him a request it shows up in his phone as an email... very odd. It has no option of being accepted or rejected but shows up on his calendar regardless! Its like its auto-accepting and not prompting, but additionally the message is received as an e-mail.

can any one please help me with this? This is driving me nuts and these guys need to accept/reject their meetings. Most are fine, but this one user has issues. I looked around in the BES software and it seems ok. What gives?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

This issue could be caused by a corrupt "[CICAL]" service book so you can go to Options > Advanced Options > Service Book > Highlight "Desktop[CICAL]" and press the menu button and select Delete. Then from the BES resend the Service Books for this user.

Thanks,

Gary

Arghh

Ok I saw that the Desktop CICAL came back in. Sent him a meeting request, comes thru with the two people icon and I can accept/deny. Denied it. Sent another one for another time, and it comes thru as an e-mail!

What the heck is going on??

On BlackBerry Enterprise a similar issue was resolved by a maintenance release but BlackBerry Professional doesn't or won't have any updates made available. I have noticed AT&T are running “very” old device firmware on their BlackBerry Bolds, can you please confirm the version you are running by going to “Option > About > Third Line” on the device?

Thanks Gary for all the input

The third line says:

v4.6.0.167 (Platform 4.0.0.157)

I attached a photo of the issue

As AT&T offer no newer updates we can try another carrier's firmware if you are interested? If you wish to try this you will need to download and install the latest 4.6.0.247 firmware onto a PC running BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Once installed go to c:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader and delete the vendor.xml file, you will then be prompted to upgrade once the device is detected (connected via USB). After the update has completed you will need to reactivate the device onto the BES.

Is it a firmware issue? I can't imagine everyone with a Bold and BES are having this problem! This is my GM's phone and I really really don't want to experiment on it.

All Bold devices that have firmware lower than 4.6.0.190 have a large number of bugs. Can you please confirm if you are running BlackBerry Professional as if you are running Enterprise, SBE or Express there are some patches we can run on the server. Also can you confirm that this is only happening to the Bold user?
