Hi Gary,

what logs might these be?

i've checked the general windows application logs through event viewer and nothing is reported at time of connection attempt.

---

as a further note, i ran a network packet sniffer on our CWA server (recall that it's also installed on our LCS server) and filtered for traffic being parsed from our BES. i confirmed that when i initiated a CWA connection attempt from my blackberry app, the sniffer picked up traffic between the BES and the CWA server on port 443 (our defaulted port chosen for CWA connections)

so at least we can confirm the BES is communicating the connection attempt.

do you know if there are more detailed logs we can check on the CWA server to see where it's failing?

or other tests i can try?

checked the BBIM logs on BES and got the following:

i draw your attn to the "Account" highlilghted below... it reads:

domain.com\user

on the blackberry, i put the username as domain\user

i have a suspiscion that this additional .com in the account is causing the authentication to fail. i'm not sure where it's applying it.

I tried changing the option on BES -Blackberry Manager > BBIM > General > Default Domain Name: (from empty to) domain (our domain name). and then tried logging into communicator again on the BB with just username = user (no domain\user)

this also failed with the same authentication error. however the logs seem to indicate the session is immediately ended (see difference in the two logs below; highlights in yellow)

loggin in on blackberry with
sign-in name: user@domain.com
user name: domain\user
password: *****

with this last login method (ie username = user) the application hangs on "connecting" on the blackberry.
i can also confirm no traffic is parsed to the CWA server (via packet sniffer) via this connection attempt

sorry for the spam guys...but finally figured it out

where i changed the domain in BES:

I tried changing the option on BES -Blackberry Manager > BBIM > General > Default Domain Name: (from empty to) domain (our domain name). and then tried logging into communicator again on the BB with just username = user (no domain\user)

i didnt try leaving the username field blank....

seems this was the trick. when you leave it blank, the session logs in as such: (from BBIM logs)

hope this helps others

I have similar problem.
BES 5.0 and LCS 2005 SP1
I have configured Web Access and can logon to server via IE internally.
When I try to connect to LCS2005 via Blackberry Browser it is trying to launch popup screen (java) and just hangs on white empty page. If you not allow pop-ups then you see LCS logon page, but with red message, that pop-ups are disabled.

From BB LCS client it will try to logon forever but never to actually logon.

Has anyone encountered problem like this?

i'd check the BBIM logs to see what's (if anything) being parsed to the CWA server as a start

I don't see any events related to my login
I see that BES is trying to connect to correct LCS servers, but searching on my user name gives me nothing.
Could be something wrong with my client?
