Non Exchange emails through BES

Hi all

We have recently setup our BES and have rolled out Bold 9000 to all users.

Our CEO has been using a HTC touch and we want him to switch over to the Bold

On his HTC he not only gets emails through Exchange push, but we setup his personal email account (telstra or optus I think) so he gets those emails to - is this possible to do on the bold using the BES?

We have locked out all WAP and data services so all internet traffic goes through our proxy server - does this make a difference

Cheers

Adam

Hi Adam,

It can be done, you will need the device to be provisioned for Enterprise Plus. I know its possible with Vodafone, unsure with Telstra or Optus. Pretty much you can create a BIS account and also activate the handset on BES at the same time with Enterprise Plus. The device will show 2 email icons.

Send a message via MSN to richarddg
i have a telstra bold (and love it) and am also the BES Admin - i can confirm that Telstra does support both BES and BIS on the same phone, the BIS will handle up to 10 email accounts so currently being the comms junkie i am i have my work email through the BES and a Hotmail, Gmail, and plain old pop through the BIS and it works spankingly well

I seem to remember Optus are a funny about BIS+BES stuff. But a quick test
visit the Optus BIS portal https://bis.ap.blackberry.com/html?brand=optus sign him up & test an email address. in thoery it should work as it's RIM who pop's the email & send it to the device.

Richarddg, yeah iot works a treat. I also got them to add the BIS codes to my sim, so I get the BIS browser option, handy in case the proxy server goes down ;-)

Hi,

I can confirm that if you contact Optus they can enable BIS and BES access (on new BES accounts it is enabled by default).

Thanks,

Gary
