Forwarding rule for BlackBerry Internet Service

Forwarding rule for BlackBerry Internet Service

Doc ID : KB10979
Last Modified : 2007-11-02
Document Type : What Is

Environment
  • BlackBerry® Internet Service
Note: To determine which version of the BlackBerry Internet Service you are using, see KB04989.

Details

When an email account is integrated into a BlackBerry Internet Service account, new email messages are retrieved from the integrated account every 15 minutes and delivered to the BlackBerry smartphone. If more frequent email message delivery is required, a forwarding rule may be used.
The forwarding rule must be set from within the source email account (the account from which email messages will be forwarded). Consult with the administrator of the source email account to determine if forwarding is supported.

The target of the forwarding rule should be the hosted email address (for example name@site.blackberry.net). Upon configuration of the forwarding rule, if the account in question is still integrated into the BlackBerry Internet Service account, it should be removed to prevent duplicates from appearing on the BlackBerry smartphone.

To remove an integrated email account from the BlackBerry Internet Service account, follow these steps:

BlackBerry Internet Service 1.8
  1. Log into the BlackBerry Internet Service account.
  2. From the home page, click on the Email Accounts link.
  3. Select the check box beside the account to be deleted.
  4. Click Delete.
BlackBerry Internet Service 2.x
  1. Log into the BlackBerry Internet Service account.
  2. Click the Delete icon to the right of the account to be deleted.
Additional Information

Please note that when you forward mail from your email domain to a hosted blackberry.net email address, you are subject to possible third-party Spam Filtering solutions.

Question for moderators/admins -could this (& some similar posts) be turned into a "sticky"? I am coming across these "pearls" of wisdom (ugh, sorry!) in searches, when it would be great to have a few key points like these permanently shown at the top of a relevant thread list....

Cheers,
Brian
