Very pleased with optus

Just signed up for a month to month yes cap + $19.90 BIS Blackberry E-Mail (unlimited POP & 512B data) with optus and I have to say I am very pleased with the entire experience. This is the onli phone provider that provides a reasonable BB BIS bolt on price with a month to month contract... voda and 3 both need 24mths commitment for BB BIS (wtf for i have no idea). I signed up at strathfield and the guy there was surprisingly knowledgeable and I called optus tech support to get the service books pushed over to my device ( I already had a BB Bold from overseas) and the first tech support guy i talked to was able to do it in about 20 seconds. very impressed! If you guys need BB BIS and don't want to be tied down to a plan... Optus is the way to go. Most pleasant experience ever. besides 512MB is practically unlimited on a BB so $19.90 for unlimited BB just rocks.....

any opinions horror stories with optus ?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.216 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/138)

That's great to hear! I'm personally with vodafone on a 24mth contract. Difference is I got the phone with the plan :-) I'm loving my Bold every minute (coming from a Nokia user for 8 years).

Hi,

You will find most "horror" stories occur when you are getting the device setup so to have already got over the first hurdle. All you need to do is confirm that in "Options > Advanced Options > Browser" you have "Internet Browser" set as the default.

Thanks,

Gary

Wow, can we just sign in for one month? do you have to be a previous optus customer? Telstra is also offering $20 unlimiited BIS with no contract. But Im not sure if we can do it month by month!

We need this in Australia, BlackBerry is worse than Swine Flu in countries like Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. I spose being very close people tend to travel between these country and would need a BIS connection on their stay in Aust. Not forgetting the US and the UK who are already massivly into BB, we just need this BIS connection with no contract Yeah!

Sounds great! I'm in a similar situation where I had the device from overseas, and can't get access to any of my e-mails because I need a proper BB Data Plan and was looking for a month-to-month contract. This sounds like the perfect solution for me! Thanks for sharing. I'll pop unto their website and check out their Cap Plans too. What Cap did you get BTW?

Sorry, you lost me there. If Telstra offers it with NO contract, then it is month-to-month? You basically can call customer service up at any time you find a better deal and say, "been nice while it lasted, I'm heading off!".

I meant to say that you are not locked to a BIS contract like 3 that once you activated your BIS you have to pay the 30 dollars every month for 24 month.

My buddy is on an existing plan on telstra it was actually an old iPhone Contract, and he just need to add another 20 dollars everymonth for BIS and he can stop at anytime for the BIS.

Thats wot I meant, tadaaaa !!!
