Hi,

What you need to confirm is that the messenger contact request email to the outside user isn't being blocked by your spam filter. As an example of the email being sent from your device to the requested contact I have posted a sample request from my handset below:

----------

Gary Cutri would like to add you to his or her BlackBerry Messenger Contact List.

If you don't currently have the required application on your device, please visit www.BlackBerry.com/messenger to learn more about this service.

Once you've installed BlackBerry Messenger, return to this message to accept this request.

besides using email, i advise user to use pin to add contact in BB messenger

1. Launch BB Messenger
2. Click Menu
3. Choose ‘Add a Contact’
4. Choose ‘[Use Once]’
5. Click Menu again
6. Choose ‘Request by PIN’
7. Key in the contact BB PIN
8. Add a message.
9. Click OK.
10. Click OK.

unfortunately, some receive the request, some don't. Those who received the request made it to the 'contact' list, some are still in the 'pending' list.

This issue may also be a result of your BES being a very old version as its 4 service packs and three hot fixes out of date. Also confirm what devices do and don't function and compare the device firmware versions to see if the device software is at fault.

Hi Gary,
Messenger is not on my BB since the upgrade, I have followed the link above and the following message came up

BlackBerry Messenger for Software Versions 4.0 and 4.1
Unsupported Device

Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BlackBerry Messenger for Software Versions 4.0 and 4.1.

Can you assist.
Thanks,
Lyn

Hi Lyn,

First we need to confirm that the Blackberry Messenger icon isn't just hidden. From the main list of icon press the menu button (left of the trackball) and select "Show All", if the icon is present highlight it and press the menu button again and unselect "Hide". If the icon doesn't exist we will have to use Application Loader in Desktop Manager again to add BlackBerry Messenger.

Thanks,

Gary
