    Outlook Public Folders on BlackBerry

    Hello,

We have SBS server and 6 users. We do not need individual calendars - just a shared one. Can we have one shared calendar across all users but still maintain each individuals emails etc.

Please assume my knowledge level here is very low. We have not yet invested in Blackberry and i need to check this function before moving forward.

    Thanks

Cabled Synchronization of Public folders Guide

Note: These steps will NOT allow wireless synchronization. You need to have BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed on your desktop.

    Public Calendar Example

    * It is assumed you already have a Calendar in a public folder. You need to have BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed on your desktop.

    1. Ensure your shared calendar has permissions to allow BlackBerry users to access
    2. Open Desktop Manager
    3. Select "Intellisync" and then "configure pim"
    4. Select "Calendar" and click "choose"
    5. click "Browse" (at the bottom) and then choose the calendar in your public folder

    Public Contacts Example

    * It is assumed you already have a contacts list in a public folder.

    1. Open desktop manager
    2. Select "IntelliSync" and then "configure pim"
    3. Select address book and click choose.
    4. click "Browse" (at the bottom) and "add", then choose contacts in your public folder

    Public Notes Example

    * It is assumed you already have a Notes Folder in a public folder.

    1. Ensure your shared notes has permissions to allow BlackBerry users to access
    2. Open Desktop Manager
    3. Select "Intellisync" and then "configure pim"
    4. Select "MemoPad" and click "choose"
    5. click "Browse" (at the bottom) and then choose the notes item in your public folder

This solution works with Desktop Manager, but what about BES

Thanks Gary for your descriptions, but what if we want to use the BES to synchronise public contacts folders as well as private mailbox folders.

    Truly Wireless Sync?

I don't understand the process defined in this thread. How is changing the the desktop manager getting my BES to sync the public calendar wirelessly? In discord with the instructions outlined above, I can have my calendar set to wireless sync instead of outlook AND click browse below to choose to sync a public folder calendar. I am just stupid or does this not work?

    Can't Follow...

So The instructions are quite clear to me, however I am using Desktop Manager V 4.2.2.12 (19 Mar 2007) and there is no option for intellisync... Am I thick or are the instructions no longer valid? Also, how do I ensure the permissions are properly set in outlook?

    Many Thanks!

    Danielle

    Hi Danielle,

Just as a quick confirmation before we begin that using this method won't allow wireless synchronization. In the newer versions of Blackberry Desktop manager the "Intellisync" menu has been renamed to "Synchronize".

    Public Contacts Example

    1. Open Blackberry Desktop Manager and connect your device
    2. Open the "Synchronize" application
    3. Once the Synchronize screen appears select the "Configuration" tab at the top
    4. On the Configuration tab select "Configure Synch.."
    5. Select the data type you wish to change e.g. Address Book
    6. When prompted select "Outlook"
    7. From the next screen you are able to choose which public Contact List you wish to sync with. You may also need to remove your current address book if that isn't required.

    Thanks,

    Gary

I am unclear... Can we have wireless sync using BES for our private mailboxes, while still allowing Desktop Redirector to sync only the Public Folders or will the two sync features collide?

In order to transfer Public folder data to a BlackBerry device you need to disable wireless sync for that item (e.g. Contacts). Once wireless is disabled you are only able to transfer data for that item via cable or Bluetooth.

Thumbs up Exchange Public Folders and Shared Calendars

WICKSoft Mobile Documents (WICKSoft Mobile Documents for BlackBerry) allows you to access Exchange public folders from your BlackBerry, including Calendars, Contacts, email messages, and even files.

It also allows you to search Exchange folders (search for meetings, for contacts, etc..) and synch with your BlackBerry.

You can get a 30-day eval at WICKSoft Mobile Documents for BlackBerry

Thanks for the info. Have you use this application before? If so it would be great to know your thoughts on the application.
