First of all I am trying to upgrade to 4.0 SP7. We are currently using 4.0.3.7 but everytime I try to upgrade I get the following error message:

The version of the Blackberry Enterprise Installer will only upgrade from a previous installation with version 4.0.0 or higher. No such installation has been detected on the system. Setup will now exit.

Any ideas? What have I missed?

Cheers,

Jamie

Thansk for the help.

One other thing, is there a way to force the update rather than waiting the default four hours?

If you have BES 4.1 with SP4 you can just right mouse click your users and select "Deploy Application" and it will push straight away.

Thanks again. Unfortunately I don't have 4.1!

OK, sorry if I get annoying now . The update has not been pushed out to any of my BB's (luckily we are only small and have 10 BB's).

In the Handheld Configuration window all the BBs are show in a state of Handheld State Unavailable in the Configuration Status column.

When I run the ST2007Query app it tells me that none of the BBs have had the patch installed. I have wiped my BB and tried again but the same error is there. I cannot find anything about this message anywhere.

Thanks again for your help.

DST Patches on BES Server + Devices

Hi,

So from my understanding you still need to install the Exchange KB943068 on the BES server. Is this correct?
I have done this in my environment and all looks good.

Also regarding the patching does Patch Manager v2.5 support/download the DST 2008 updates? It's doesn't say much regarding this in the PDF doc.

I'm guessing there is no patch fr the 4.0 devices? since there is only 4.1+ and 4.2+ patches.

I really feel Blackberry did a poor job on having good instructions on how to successfully update your Blackberry infrastructure. This is not to say microsoft were much better. Some of the tools Microsoft created, i.e. Exchange Calander update tool, just don't work as expected.

Anyway hopefully this is the last DST change we will have for some time.

Yes, I have put all the MS patches required.

When you say that there is no patch for 4.0 devices are you talking about the version on the Handheld itself on the version of BES running on the server? We have some Handhelds running on 4.2, 4.1 and 4.0 but all connect to the one BES 4.0.7 server.

Yeh, i'm talking about the Handheld patch. On the website they are only for devices with version 4.1+ or 4.2+.

One weird thing i noticed is if the handheld is 4.2+ then the calendar items still work fine even without the patch. Has anyone else noticed this?

Mixed info for Device patching

It looks like you don't need to patch your device using the DST 2008 update if you have previously patched your device using DST 2007 patch.

As stated on the RIM site: DST 2007 patch
Update as of March 7, 2008: Please note that if you have already downloaded the North American DST 2007 patch for your BlackBerry device, no further updates are necessary for Daylight Savings Time changes in 2008.

From my testing, the calendar looks correct without the device patch, as long as you do all the server based patches and hotfixes.

Thanks. All our 4.2 devices don't need the update, they are relatively new and I presume they already have the correct DST settings on them.

We have a couple of 4.1 devices that have not updated.

I'm resigned to the fact that our 4.0 users will need to manually change their times. I'm not sure what effect that wil have on the calendar entries.

Regarding my problem with Handheld configuration Application, I am getting Handheld State Unavailable on all devices. Can anybody help out with that? i'm pretty sure that is not right and the underlying cause of the problem will be why my 4.1 devices are not updating.
