reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours.

Hi,

I've had a few Exchange 2003 issues today (server crash forcing cluster failover & stroage group ran out of space).

Now my BES is not sending or receiving messages and the following is logged in the Windows Application Event log;

"agent x: will not restart - reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours."

This is stated for all of the 3 agents. I have chnaged a user to a static agent (200) and then that works fine.

Is there anything I can do to get the 3 automatcially generated agents working. I'm really hoping I do not have to wait 24 hours!

I've seen this error on searching the forums but no fix. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Mark.

Maybe one of these will help?

You can either restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to reset the counter to zero, or customize the BlackBerry Controller configuration.

See the section on customizing the BlackBerry Controller configuration in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Novell GroupWise Maintenance Guide.

Important: Restarting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will delay message delivery to BlackBerry devices. For more information, see KB04789.

Resolution 2

Restart the BlackBerry Dispatcher and BlackBerry Controller services.

Check the Windows Event Viewer Application log for the error code that the BlackBerry Messaging Agent generates, and then see one of the following knowledge base articles:

* For error code 5305, see KB01018
* For error code 5202, see KB00075

Once the BlackBerry Messaging Agent error code is resolved, restart the BlackBerry Controller to clear the maximum 10 restarts per 24 hours.

Important: Restarting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.

If you are having issues with Exchange always correct those issue first and then restart the BES server once they are back online.
