Impact of not installing the DST Fall 2008 update
For the correct date and time to display on your BlackBerry smartphone after the DST dates change in October 2008, you must install the DST Fall 2008 update. If you do not install the update, your BlackBerry smartphone might not display the correct date and time.

To install the Fall 2008 DST update, your BlackBerry smartphone must be running one of the following BlackBerry® Device Software versions. Installing the Fall 2008 DST update on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
To install the Fall 2008 DST update on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, complete one of the following options:
Option 1 - Script patch
The script patch can be used to upgrade all of the BlackBerry smartphone user accounts on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server at one time without the need to send any additional .cod files. This script patch is only available for BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 and later. Previous BlackBerry Device Software versions do not support the synchronization of the Time Zone database using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Note: This Option is only supported with BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 or later. BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0.344 to 4.1.0.385 (except for BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0.347) should proceed to Option 2 - Time zone update cod patch method.
Select the appropriate script patch for your version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server, attached to this article.

For instructions on how to install the Fall 2008 DST patch on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, see the information for your platform of BlackBerry Enterprise Server:
Option 2 - Time zone update cod patch
BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrators can send this patch to BlackBerry smartphones instead of using the script patch. For instructions on how to wirelessly deploy the BlackBerry smartphone patches from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, see
KB03748.
Note: This is not required for BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 or later if the script patch (Option 1) has been applied to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Select the appropriate time zone update cod patch for your version of BlackBerry Device Software, attached to this article.
- 4.1.0+ Patch.zip for BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0.344 through 4.1.0.385 (except for BlackBerry Device Software 4.1.0.347)
- 4.2.0+ Patch.zip for BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0.35 through 4.2.0.73 and later (including Blackberry Device Software 4.3.0, 4.5.0, and 4.6.0)
Note: Microsoft has changed its latest update to CDO.dll to now include the Dynamic DST updates. This change allows the CDO to retrieve time zone rules from the Windows registry, correcting time zone interoperability issues that were encountered in the past.
