Contacts Sync Settings on BES

I have a user who would like only his default Outlook Contact folder not his sub contact folders to sync with the Blackberry. How would we change the PIM configuration on the BES for this?

Hi,

You can't change this setting in a BES\Exchange environment so your only options are to move the sub folders (e.g. to a PST) or sync contacts via cable.

Thanks,

Gary

Note: Please backup your contacts before starting this process. Also by moving contacts to a PST they are being moved “offline” so they will only be visible on the PC that the PST was created\saved on.

1. Open Outlook
2. Press File > New > Outlook Data File
3. Select to create an "Office Outlook Personal Folders file"
4. Select a filename and press OK
5. On the next screen change the name if required and press OK
6. Now right mouse click each sub contact folder and select "Copy" and then select you new PST file.
7. Once all the subfolders have been copied double check that they appears correct (e.g. confirm the number of items in contacts folder).
8. Now delete the contacts from the sub folders below the main contacts list (e.g. not the one you just copied to the PST)
9. Once deleted the sub folder contacts will be slowly removed from the BlackBerry the next time the device synchronizes.
