I will admit I am new to all of this IT work but I work for a small company (18 people and only 8 Blackberrys maybe) and they need me to manage their servers along with all of my other duties. The boss just got a Storm and wants to have push email and have his calendar and contacts and what not synched to his phone and all the other blackberrys. I have one server runner W2k3 that is my domain controller and then I have another server running Exchange 2007. I do not want to install BES express on our domain controller is possible/compatible to run BES express on our Exchange 2007 server or not?? Thank you ahead of time for your comments and thoughts.

Hi,

Installing BES on an Exchange 2007 server will cause issue with Exchange and OWA as it changes IIS from 64bit to 32bit mode. If you install BES on the domain controller it will be better than on the Exchange server but it is still not ideal. On the DC you can consider is installing the free VMWare and setting up a virtual server. If this configuration the virtual server will only impact the DC by consuming CPU and memory (the impact will depend on the type of CPU and current available memory).

Thanks,

Gary

Hi,

Just open the Exchange Management Console > Select Organization Configuration > Select "Add Exchange Administrator" in the left Action window > On the next screen select Browse > Add BESadmin > Select Exchange View-Only Administrator Role > Press Add.

Thanks,

Gary

Thumbs up Thanks to Gary

After going crazy for weeks and searching various forums to try and get BES working in our test environment, I would just like to say thanks a lot for your install instructions. Of all the environments, we have the exact setup that you have detailed above. So after completely uninstalling the BES on our exchange server and moving it to another, finally I have it working.

So credit were credit is due and thank you very much for this post

so far no success on one way reconcile. we got to press Reconcile Now from BB device in order to synch with Outlook 2007, works fine otherway.

We are running BPS 4.1.4.15 (just one user )
Exchange server 2007 SP1 running on server 2008 64 bit.

BPS and exchange are on separate servers.

Exchange 2007 SP2

Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my exchange 2007 server to SP2, is there anything in particular that I should be concerned about with regards to BES? I am currently running 4.1.6 on an x64 platform. Is there a new cdo.dll that I will need to install?

Thanks!
