Environment- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 2
- Novell® GroupWise®
Problem
When starting services on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or after restarting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the system administrator notices that the GWSoapConnector process is not running and/or there are GWSoapConnector errors in the Microsoft® Windows® Event Viewer.
When reviewing the logs, the following error appears in the GWSC log:
[34154] (12/22 12:37:40):{0x8B0} {GWSC} {GWSOAPConnector} Mailstore test start, test level=1
[34116] (12/22 12:37:40):{0x8B0} {GWSC} {<UserName>} Login: Start

[34045] (12/22 12:37:42):{0x8B0} {GWSC} {<UserName>} Logout admin user
[14095] (12/22 12:37:42):{0x8B0} {GWSC} {GWSOAPConnector} Mailstore test failed
where
<UserName> is the name of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account and
<IP_address> is the IP address of the Novell GroupWise Server.
Cause
The system administrator has not specified the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) port correctly for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Resolution
Use Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to connect to the post office in question and verify that SOAP is enabled on the post office and document the SOAP port number that is specified.
NOTE: If the Post Office Agent cannot be contacted using HTTP, then HTTP is likely not enabled on that post office. The system administrator should contact Novell to assist if this is the case.
When it can be verified that SOAP is enabled and the SOAP port has been verified, follow these steps to correct the port number in the BlackBerry Server Configuration:
- Select the GroupWise settings tab.
- Click Change Database.
- Specify the correct SOAP port in the Database Wizard.
